9-Ball City Tournament:

The 9 Ball City Tournament was held Friday June 13 and Saturday June 14 at the 8 Ball Sports Bar.

THE 9 BALL WINNING TEAM IS ‘SHAKE N BREAK’ OUT OF THE 8 BALL SPORTS BAR.  IT WAS TOUGH COMPETITION AGAINST THE TEABAGS OUT OF BELLAGIO’S PUB.  CONGRATULATIONS TO BOTH TEAMS!  SHAKE N BREAK WILL BE REPRESENTING CENTRAL OHIO APA AT THE NATIONAL 9-BALL TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP FRIDAY AUGUST 15 THROUGH SUNDAY AUGUST 17 AT THE RIVIERA HOTEL IN LAS VEGAS.  TEAM MEMBERS ARE:

RESULTS OF THE 9-BALL NATIONAL TOURNAMENT:

Shake n Break out of the Central Ohio area placed 129th out of 357 teams participating in the National 9 Ball Tournament in Las Vegas!  Congratulations team for making it that far!

The 8-Ball City Tournament was held June 20-22.  There were 16 teams battling it out on Sunday for the chance to go to Vegas.  The 6 teams advancing are Greeny’s 8 Ball Outlaws, Full Throttle, Last Chance, Shooters, Soaring Eagles, and Victory Billiards.  Teams are:

National Team Championships for 8-ball began August 18 and went through August 23.

We also have players that buy spots for the Doubles and Masters tournaments that are going on at the same time as the Team Championships. 

Players participating in the Doubles were Virgil Jackson and Joe Holbrook, Karee Rowe and Dylan Lipatapanlop.

Players participating in the Masters are Shane Rowe, Dylan Lipatapanlop, Virgil Jackson, and John Todd.

JACK & JILL FORMAT:

The summer Jack & Jill  (Doubles) League is finished.  Winners of the league were Terry Norman and Zola Scott.  Congratulations!  The 2nd session started September 19. (you don’t have to be married or whatever, but it is a male/female league.  A team will be sent by the Central Ohio APA to participate in the Jack & Jill National Tournament next spring. 

The league is every other Friday evening and held in-house at the 8-Ball Sports Bar.  If you are interested in participating please contact the League Office asap!!

SUMMER SESSION:

Summer session has ended and Tri-Cups have been played.  Results will be posted in the next newsletter.

Fall Session:

We have just ended our 4th week in the fall session.  Rosters are now closed.   If you only have 5 players on your team and feel you need to add players, please call the League Office.  Thank you.

PERSONAL NOTES:

Births:

Jason and Christy Bertolo had a baby boy, Augustino, born on June 19, 2008.  He was a big baby boy at 9 lb and 14 oz and at 3 months is now 18 pounds.

Weddings: 

Mike Young and Sarah Stovicek were married on May 17, 2008 in Utica.

Mike Saxton and Suzanne Howard were married on June 7, 2008 at the Courtyard Marriott at Roberts Road and 270.  Jason Strausbaugh performed the ceremony and Mitch Haaf was a Groomsman…This was an APA wedding for sure!

Adam and Leah (Garwood) Bates were married June 12, 2008.

Tim and Jenny () Kane were married August 9, 2008.  After spending 3 days in Niagara Falls, they got Hendrick passes and spent the rest of the week at Michigan Speedway and hung out with Jeff Gordon and other Nascar racers.  Did you know Jeff Gordon used to live with Tim and his family??

Accidents:

Jim Rider (Springfield)  was in a terrible motorcycle accident and is slowly recuperating.  He is still in a wheelchair, but is now able to attend matches.

Leslie Mays and Mike Martin (Delaware) were in a terrible motorcycle accident as well during bike week May 12 in Myrtle Beach.  They are still having many complications from their accident, but are slowly recuperating.
