CONGRATULATIONS TEAMS!! 1ST place teams received a bar plaque and individual trophies.  2nd  place teams received bar plaques.   They were available at the Tier 1 Tri Cup this last weekend.  If your team did not get it, it will be mailed to you or taken to the 8 Ball.

CENTRAL OHIO NATIONAL TEAMS

6 8-Ball teams went to Vegas this year to compete nationally.  Almost 700 teams competed for the National Championships.  Teams that represented the Central Ohio League were:

The 3 teams who placed 129 received $1,000 each at the National Tournament.  Central Ohio paid $3,000 to each team to participate in the National Tournaments.

1 9-ball team was represented by Central Ohio.  This team was Get to the Pointe from the North Pointe bar in Powell.  They placed 193 out of more than 300 teams.

Thanks teams for representing Central Ohio.

 SUMMER SESSION SPORTSMANSHIP AWARD:

We received 256 nice comments about teams this session.  This is very good, considering it was only a 12 week session.  The team that received the most compliments from other teams in the summer session was YIP out of Dino's Pizza and Bar.  Not only did they win the sportsmanship trophy for their Tuesday team, but also received many good comments on their sportsmanship for their Monday night team.  This team consistently receives good comments about their sportsmanship since they have joined the league.  Team members are:  Captain:  Mike Wentzel, Co-Captain: Justin Ritzman, Jeff Lyons, Andrew Orton, Alvin Orton, Adam Lyons, and Stephen Hoff.

SUMMER TIER 2 TRI-CUP

23 teams participated in the Tier 2 tri-cup.

Tier 2 tri cup teams received a total of $10,650.  Winners of the Tier 2 Tri-cup received $1000 each.  These teams qualified for the City Regional to be held June 2008.

SPRING SESSION CAPTAIN AND CO-CAPTAIN TOURNAMENT:

The Spring Captain and Co-captain tournament was held Saturday August 4. There is no entry fee to play in this tournament.  This tournament is designed to thank Captains and Co-Captains for the work they do during a session.   Winners of the tournament were:

SINGLES BOARDS:

2 singles boards have been run recently and winners are:  Casey Fischer and Tina Cowher.  They will be participating in the Regional Singles Boards in the Spring of 2008

U.S. AMATEUR

The U.S. Amateur was held at the 8 Ball Sports Bar & Billiards September 22 and 23rd.  Cut off to participate in this tournament was June 15th. There were 59 participants, that it went into a 2-day tournament.  Many very good players competed in this tournament.  Winners that will be heading to Atlanta, GA in November are:

PERSONAL NOTES:

Weddings:

Jennifer and Jeff Auld were wed August 10.  Their wedding was in California

Chad and Beth Kimbleton were married during the National Tournaments in Las Vegas

Babies:

Bill Pierce and Tiffany Plewes had a baby boy, Austin Hunter Pierce on June 6/19/07.  Austin was 8 lb. 4 oz.

Darren Fry and Jalaire Moore had a baby boy, Dominic, on July 5.  Dominic was 7 lb. 2 oz and was 19 in. long

Deaths:

Jason Kuntz passed away in July.  He has been in the league since 1998 and has played with Roger Coffey’s team.

Robert Ferrell passed away June 21after a long battle with Cancer.  He had been in the APA since 1996 and played on the Eastside.

Misty Lawson’s mother passed away June 22 in a tragic car accident

Rick Ford’s mother passed away June 21.

Greg Rostofer’s 17 year old daughter, Nicole Rostofer,  passed away in a tragic accident over the summer.
