CENTRAL OHIO NEWS AND EVENTS

The Spring 8-Ball Tri Cup was held at the 8 Ball Sports Bar & Billiards June 2-4.  Division winners, winners of division playoffs, and wild card teams were invited to play.  We had a total of 64 teams competing in the tournament for a spot in the City Tournament held June 16-18.

A total of $16,000 was paid out to 32 teams.  The top 4 teams took home a total $1,500 each!

24 of these 32 teams competed in the City Regional Tournament June 16-18. 

CITY REGIONAL TOURNAMENT:

6 TEAMS WILL BE GOING TO LAS VEGAS TO COMPETE IN THE APA 8-BALL NATIONAL TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP AUGUST 21-26.  EACH TEAM RECEIVED $2500 TO ASSIST THEM IN GETTING TO VEGAS AS WELL AS INDIVIDUAL CITY CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHIES AND PICTURE PLAQUES FOR THEIR HOST LOCATION.  THESE TEAMS ARE:

6 2ND PLACE TEAMS FOUGHT HARD TO GET TO VEGAS.  THEY ARE TO BE CONGRATULATED FOR THEIR EFFORTS.  THESE TEAMS ALSO WALKED OUT OF THE TOURNAMENT WITH INDIVIDUAL TROPHIES AND A PLAQUE FOR THEIR HOST LOCATION.  THESE TEAMS ARE:

SUMMER SESSION:

Scoresheets will not be sent for the Monday and Tuesday teams that have already received them for the weekend of the 4th of July.

Cues for putting together a team of 5 new players are being distributed.  If you think you are entitled to one, please contact the league office.

New By-Laws are still being written to accommodate the changes to the League Structure which will begin this session.  We will be holding 2 tri cups at the end of this session.  Tier 1 tri-cup will send 16 teams to the City Regional Tournament in June, 2007.  Tier 2 tri-cup will be sending 4 teams to the City Regional Tournament as well.

IMPORTANT DATES:

July 15th - Jack & Jill tournament at 8 Ball Sports Bar & Billiards. Signs ups 5pm, Play starts 5:30

July 15th - Singles Boards Tournaments, Plain City.  Contact Brian Hay at 937-537-1802

July 22-23 - Captain and Co-Captain tournament, 8 Ball Sports Bar & Billiards

August 5th- 3 Man Tournament, 8 Ball Sports Bar & Billiards

PERSONAL NOTES:

BIRTHS:  Glenn & Kathy Nungester and Jim and Joan Bartow are grandparents and great-grandparents of Jullian Eugene Allen, born June 1, 2006.  He was 6 lb 1 oz and 18 in long.  He was taken to Children's Hospital and had a rough couple of first days.  Congratulations to both sets of grandparents.
