Once again, we were given an exception to send 1 9-ball team to the 9-Ball National Championships this year. The team that won in Central Ohio, Cue Masters, (Latecomers-Loud Moaners) out of Donericks in Dublin. They placed 129 with a total winnings of $350.

Our teams placed very well in the National Tournaments. We are proud to have each of these teams represent the Central Ohio APA. A huge congratulations to Rodney Bigham and his team, We Had a Good Run for placing 2nd in the National out of 670 teams represented in the U.S. and Canada.

We also had several players that chose to go out to Vegas during the National Team Championships who played in the Mini-Mania events and 8-Ball Doubles tournaments.

If you would like to participate in any of these events, a schedule of events and deadlines are on the website under the calendar of events.

SUMMER SESSION SPORTSMANSHIP AWARD:

The team that got the Sportsmanship award for the summer session is Nice Rack out of Lucky's Grille & Billiards in Hilliard. The team players were: Captain, Brian Forrest, Co-Captain, John Keep. SUMMER PRIZE FUND:

All checks for the summer session have been mailed. If the captain has not yet cashed the check, please do so asap and distribute to the team. U.S. AMATEUR TOURNAMENT:

The U.S. Amateur Tournament was run September 17th at the 8 Ball Sports and Billiard Bar on Morse Rd. 3 Columbus players will be going to the Championship Rounds held November 4-6 in Atlanta Georgia. They are Jason Burns, Chris Fisher, and Danny Nole

FALL SESSION 2005:

Most teams are going into week 7 of play. If you have not paid your bar sponsor fee, it is past due and your team will begin losing points as a result.

This has been the most difficult session in scheduling. Every time we think a schedule is good, something happens that changes it. We are making every effort with these changes to be as fair as possible to all teams and bars.

Rosters are now locked for fall. However, if a team is struggling keeping players, please call the League Office. The team must be down to 5 players before getting permission to add a new one.

DIVISION REPRESENTATIVES:

We are still in need of Division Reps for different divisions. If you have an interest in participating in the APA League beyond league play, please call the League Office.

SINGLES BOARDS:

1 singles board was run at the tri-cup tournament. The winner of the board was Mark Bean. He will be competing in March with several other single boards winners.

Call now to run a singles board. Be one of the contestants to participate in the next Singles Regional. Who knows, you may be making the next trip to Vegas!

We have 3 players heading to Indiana this weekend for the Fall Regional Singles. We wish them luck in this tournament.

All that is required is a person willing to take time to set a date and time. It doesn't matter where the tournament is run. It can be in someone's basement! Make an evening out of it. Up to 8 players can participate. The total cost for the board is $120. With 8 participants, each player will pay $15. The fewer participants, the greater the cost.

We encourage you to run boards for the same skill levels(ex. 3's & 4's). It is no fun for a 3 to be in a singles tournament against a 7. As you can see above, the Regional separates the skill levels giving everyone a chance to go to Vegas. The more boards we run, the more participants we have in the regional and the better the chance to hold the regional in Columbus.

PERSONAL NOTES:

Thank you all for contributing to the Humane Society of United States Disaster Relief. All pets send you a thank you as well! One couple went as far as to match Nancy & Richard's $50 donation. A total of $670 was sent out for the animals. Thanks for your generosity!

Congratulations:

Engagement: Melissa Smith & Jeff Boling

Marriage: Jim and Elaine (Cutlip) Spencer

Deaths:

Robert "Chief" Miller. Many of you will remember him from actively working with the APA before Nancy & Richard bought the league. He passed away in Florida and was brought home to Ohio. Condolences to son Brian Miller and the rest of his family.

There are some other personal situations that have been brought to our attention that are not listed. Don’t stop giving us information, we do our best to keep up with it.

Please e-mail us if you have any information you would like to add to the newsletter.
