24 teams were qualified for the City Tournament in June. Congratulations to all teams!
MVP TOURNAMENT:
MVP Tournaments are held at the end of each session. They are based from the top gun reports. The top gun report reflects the wins a players get during the session (excluding playoffs). Mp stands for Matches Played, MW stands for Matches Won and Topgun stands for the handicap of the player beat. We invite the top 10 players from each division via mail to the tournament. The player has a deadline in which to respond and mail in the $10 participation fee (non-refundable). The first 64 responses come to the tournament. These reports are out on the web site for you to follow on a weekly basis. If you ever see any discrepancies, please call the league office immediately.
The Fall Session MVP Tournament was held January 22 at the Golden 8 Ball on High Street. We had 56 participants out of the 64 who were signed up. The reason for the drop was due to the bad weather we had over that weekend. In spite of the bad weather, we had a great tournament! The Golden 8 Ball added $5.00 to the prize for each player.
The winner of the tournament was Robert Leasure beating out the other 57 players. Congratulations Robert!!! He walked away with a total winning of $300.

SPORTSMANSHIP AWARDS:
Many teams wrote on the back of the survey that were filled out in the fall session that they had no idea what the sportsmanship award is. When we started the player surveys on the back of the scoresheets, some teams decided to write something nice about the team they played. We capitalized on their efforts and decided to keep a spreadsheet on the teams that were spoken kindly about. When the regular play for the session is finished, we tally up the number of times a team had something nice said about them. The team that had the most positive comments receive trophies at the Tri-Cup tournament. Although an automatic bid into the tri- cup was a thought, the surveys we received back reported that teams did not think the team should go automatically. As a result, only trophies will be given to the team.
SPRING SESSION:
We are in the process of completing week 5 of the spring session. We are able to get the standings out now on a more regular basis. The web site will be updated on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
Scoresheets:
As a reminder, scoresheets are to be filled out neatly. This session has been particularly bad. Please make sure the correct player number is written in for the player playing. Write in the score for each player (games won) under the score column. The W-L column is where the W/L should be written in. At the bottom of the scoresheet, the total points should equal 5 between the two teams. Make sure these match unless there is a written reason as to why they don't. If they don't match or aren't filled in at all, it is difficult for us to know what wins/losses are for each team (particularly when nothing at the top is filled in.) The bottom left corner is to be used for the money turned in. Please document the amount you are sending and what it is for. Also, please read the information on the bottom. 99% of the time, there is a good reason for you to read it. The other 1% is comic relief for us. Thank you.
DIVISION REPRESENTATIVES:
We are slowly getting Division Reps for divisions filled. If your scoresheet does not reflect a division rep and you are interested in becoming one, please contact the League Office.
POOL LESSONS
Raise your game this season! We are fortunate to have one of the six national BCA-Accredited Master Acadamies located here in Columbus, through BCA Master Instructor Tom Simpson. Tom has agreed to offer special discounts for members of our league. As a league member, you may take a $50 discount for each one-day clinic you take, and teams of at least four players attending together may take $75 discounts for each day for each player. Contact Tom at 614.975.8337 for more information and times.
PERSONAL NOTES:
Births:
Matt and Jinny Bailey had twin sons January 25, Alexander (6 lb. 11oz) and David (6 lb. 9 oz.) One or both (I can't remember) is losing weight and having
a hard time keeping food down. Tests are being run. Keep them in your prayers.
Erica Dearth had a baby boy October 1, Landon Alexander, 6 lb 15oz and 20 inches long. Both mom and baby have adapted well as a new family.
Illnesses:
Jim Shultz has lung cancer and has had surgery and is doing well!
Keith (Barb's Husband) Hinerman in Logan, has had a couple of surgeries last year and is recovering from them; however, he is still not doing well.
A very good note: During the tri cup, a player had left an expensive CD Player on a table, left and forgot about it. He came back several hours later and the CD Player was still where he had left it. Another player had left his coat on a chair Friday night and came back Saturday morning. Coat and all contents were intact. That says a lot for the integrity of the players we have in our league!!! We appreciate you all!
