Players, please contact your captains if you have not received your share of the prize fund money from the spring session.

SINGLE BOARDS:

Singles boards were run at both the Tri-cup and City Tournaments. Winners of these boards were:

Jeff Logan and Jason Jones (Delaware)

We need singles boards run. Please call our office for information and boards. These boards can be run in your basement or anywhere.

SUMMER SESSION:

Summer session is in the last half of play. We would like to welcome the new teams who have started in the Summer session. Some teams still need to get their make up matches completed. Please get them completed as quickly as possible. We don't want to force the night and time of play in order to get them completed.

FALL SESSION 2004:

Now is the time to sign up for the Fall Session. Deadline is August 18. The Session begins week of August 30. You can sign up several ways: mail in the sign up sheet, fax sign up sheet, e-mail us, or call us. Sign up early! We will be offering an incentive to players to grow teams for the fall. If a player gets a group of players together to form a whole new team, not only will the captain of the new team get a free cue, but the player who put the team together will receive a free cue.

We are looking to bring back the Sunday afternoon league, Gahanna league and would like to develop league play in Circleville and Zanesville. This is all in addition to normal growth in our other areas.

Triple Play Master Division League:

We will be starting a new league format in the Fall Session. This is a no handicap league. Three team members participate in each match. Each team is allowed a maximum of four players per roster. It is a race to 7, combining 9 Ball and 8 Ball formats. The winner of the lag chooses which format to start playing or the break. The entire set of the format started must be completed before playing the other format. U.S. Amateur rules will be in effect. The target days for this league is Sunday and Wednesday evenings. More information about this league will be posted on our website in the near future. In the meantime, if you have an interest, please call the League Office.

Double Jeopardy:

If you like to play 8 ball and 9 ball, but don't like to take up too many nights shooting pool, this is the game for you! Play both on the same night. You can have different players on each roster. Teams who have played double jeopardy have enjoyed it for the following reasons:

  1. It keeps all players active during the evening. 2 players are keeping score and 2 are shooting and 2 could be coaching. This is utilizing 6 out of 8 players at one time.
  2. It prevents boredom during the evening for team players.
  3. The chances of going to Vegas has increased because of playing 2 different formats (8 and 9 ball).
  4. Only one evening is tied up in shooting pool.

The most interest generated has been on Columbus North side. The ONLY requirement is that each establishment you play out of must have 2 tables available for you on the night of play.

US AMATEUR REGIONAL TOURNAMENT

For those of you who got your registration forms in to the National APA to participate in this tournament, it will be held at the Golden 8 Ball on High Street in Columbus. The dates are September 18 & 19.

PERSONAL NOTES:

Congratulations to the pround parents, Ron Welch and Amy Tincher on the birth of their son, Brody Tincher Welch. Brody was born May 5. He weighed 7-1/2 lb. And was 21-1/2 inches long. All are doing well and starting to get some sleep at night.

Bill Pickell's mother passed away. Our condolences to Bill and his family.

Visit our website for standings, etc. at www.apacolumbus.com.
