CONGRATULATIONS TO THESE TEAMS!!
The first place teams receive individual trophies and a bar plaque. Second place teams receive a bar plaque. 8 ball trophies and plaques will be available at the tri-cup June 11.
SPRING SESSION BEST SPORTSMANSHIP AWARD:
As a result of the weekly team surveys that were filled out, one team received 4
compliments from other teams. This was the most any team received. The team is ROCKY BREAKS from ON THE ROCKS BAR, captain Lane Gandee. Comments from competing teams were: "nice team, very good shooters", "team was very pleasant", "good team - no issues. Friendly players", and "Great group of guys. Fun Bar, Fun Team." Two other teams followed with 3 compliments each. They are the Crown Jewels out of Crown Sports in Westerville, captain Casey Fischer and Moose 1651 out of the Moose Lodge in Marysville, captain Paul Moser. Many other teams were mentioned on a weekly basis.
One team had nice things to say about every team they played. This team was Miller Time from Crown Sports in Gahanna, captain Tina Cowher. These teams are what the APA is all about. We are an amateur pool league designed for teams to have fun. If teams win in the process, that's even better.
9-BALL CITY TOURNAMENT:
Our 9-ball city championship tournament was held May 22. The winning team is Sportsman's out of the Sportsman Billiard Club in Columbus. The team is: Cathy Schleig, captain; Tara Plack, co-captain, Jerry Conkel, Beth Hagerty, Britten Reed, Tammy Shirk, Jean Archer, and Michelle Chittenden. They will be representing Columbus in the 9-Ball National Team Championship in August. Wish them luck as they go out!
PRIZE FUND CHECKS:
All prize fund checks have been mailed to the teams for the spring session. Captains, if you have not received your check please contact the League Office immediately. Team players, if you have not received your part of the check, please contact your captain. Please cash and distribute checks as soon as possible. The total payout for the spring session was $46,308.50.
SPRING TRI-CUP:
8 Ball spring tri cup will be held at Davidson Hall in Reynoldsburg June 11,12,13. Team play starts at either 6pm or 10pm on Friday June 11.

8 BALL CITY TOURNAMENT:
Teams who qualified in the summer, fall, and spring sessions will participate in the 8-ball City Tournament on June 18-20. Up to 64 teams will be competing for a chance to go to Vegas. This year we will be sending 6 teams to Las Vegas for the 8-ball National Team Championships.
SUMMER SESSION:
Summer session has now started. We have byes in some divisions. They are: 011 (North Monday), 211 (East Monday), 432 (South Wednesday), 621 (Grove City Tuesday), 622 (Hilliard Tuesday), and 631 (West Wednesday). Help your bar stay busy on the night of play every week. Get 5-8 players to form a team in one of these divisions. You have a couple of weeks to work on it.
We have a new division in 9-ball started on Monday nights in South Cols. They are starting with 4 teams for the summer.
RUN SINGLES BOARDS NOW!!
Call now to run a singles board. Be one of the contestants to participate in the next Singles Regional. Who knows, you may be making the next trip to Vegas!
All that is required is a person willing to take time to set a date and time. It doesn't matter where the tournament is run. It can be in someone's basement! Make an evening out of it. Up to 8 players can participate. The total cost for the board is $120. With 8 participants, each player will pay $15. The fewer participants, the greater the cost.
We encourage you to run boards for the same skill levels(ex. 3's & 4's). It is no fun for a 3 to be in a singles tournament against a 7. As you can see above, the Regional separates the skill levels giving everyone a chance to go to Vegas. The more boards we run, the more participants we have in the regional and the better the chance to hold the regional in Columbus.
US AMATEUR:
DEADLINE: REGISTRATION FORMS MUST BE MAILED TO THE NATIONAL APA IN ST. LOUIS BY JUNE 15. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED, GET REGISTERED NOW!
The APA is sponsoring the US Amateur for 2004 again. Changes to the U.S. Amateur for 2004. Two divisions will be held - a Men's Division and a Women's Division. One person from each preliminary tournament (16 total) will advance to the U.S. Amateur Championship being held in Berlin, Connecticut. The winner of each Division (Men's and Women's) of the Amateur Championship held in Berlin will receive free travel, lodging and entry into a 2005 Pro Event, compliments of the APA.
The 2004 U.S. Amateur Preliminary round will be held at the Golden 8 Ball in Columbus. This will be held September 18 and 19, 2004. All male skill levels 7 & higher and all female skill levels 6 & higher will receive an invitation in the mail from the APA. The entry fee is $40 for APA members and $50 for non-APA members. Any player can participate in this event regardless of skill level.
